Volunteer Guide

Before you visit, please take a moment to read our

"How-To" guide and safety precautions. This will help ensure an enjoyable experience for both you and the seniors.

Always remember to be soft and gentle—their skin is delicate, and some may not be able to stay in one position for too long. Make sure they’re comfortable, and encourage them to let you know if they feel any discomfort.

Remember, the manicures are just the start—they’re a way to connect. The real reason we’re here is to provide company, listen to their stories, and build meaningful connections. Pampering is fun, but the best part is forming relationships!

Health & Safety Precautions

Workstation:

  • Make sure the workstation is clean and sanitized before each resident’s manicure.

Gloves (always required):

  • Wear gloves to maintain hygiene and avoid direct skin contact, reducing the risk of infections or allergic reactions.

  • Always change gloves between residents and ensure they are properly disposed of after each use.

Sanitation:

  • We always use single-use tools. After the manicure, offer the resident their nail file and buffer as a small extra gesture—they often appreciate it!

STEP 1: Prep the Hands

1. Start by sanitizing your hands and the client's hands.
Wear new gloves for each customer.

2. Make sure they are dry before you begin.
If they have old nail polish, remove it using nail polish remover and a cotton pad.
